Several Oregon Attorneys are lying to their clients who want to fire them and hire Retired Lawyer. They are saying that
"you'll have to start all over again. Your wait will start at the beginning if you switch lawyers."
THIS IS AN OUTRIGHT LIE. When you fire a lazy lawyer or ineffective lawyer who has ignored your case and Retired Lawyer takes over your case, you DO NOT go to the back of the line and start your wait all over again.
This is an outright lie by some Oregon lawyers.

Merrill Schneider lying to helpless Social Security claimants about Social Security regulations
Greetings:
I am a Social Security claimant’s representative. Often times, claimants will approach me to hire me stating that they wish to terminate the services of Merrill Schneider, a member of the Oregon State Bar.
On at least two occasions, these helpless claimants state that Merrill Schneider tells them the following, or words to this effect;
“If
you fire me then your Social Security Disability case will start all over from
the start. You’ll get to the back of the line. You’ve been waiting for two
years (or two months) and you’ll start right over at the beginning of the line.”
Of course, this is a lie-the social security case stays in line for a hearing without disruption. I have at least two people who have testified that Merrill Schneider has lied to them in this way. Of course the Oregon State Bar has regulations that an attorney in that bar association may not lie to clients. The Social Security regulations are even more precise in this regard that a representative may not lie to a claimant regarding social security regulations.
Therefore, please strike Merrill Schneider from the roll of attorneys who can practice before the Social Security Administration and disbar him from practicing law in Oregon.
Respectfully,

[Federal Register: August 4, 1998 (Volume 63, Number 149)] [Rules and Regulations] [Page 41404-41418] From the Federal Register [DOCID:fr04au98-7]"Social Security Administration's decision-making process is nonadversarial and informal, and claimants do not require representation. The decision to have a representative is the claimant's, and SSA neither encourages nor discourages representation.
A claimant may revoke the appointment of a representative at any time.Likewise, a representative may withdraw from representing a claimant at any time. Any rule limiting the withdrawal of a representative would contravene SSA's basic policy on representation. If a claimant still desires representation after his or her representative withdraws, we will allow the individual time to secure a new representative before we adjudicate the claim."
