Tualatin Hosting 671st
A patriotic tribute for the 671st Army Engineer Company will be presented by the City of Tualatin on Saturday, May 1st. The day’s event will begin with a parade, followed by an awards ceremony, and will conclude with a catered private picnic at the city park for the troops and their families. The parade gets underway at 10:30 am. The parade will start from the Kaiser Permanente parking lot off Tualatin-Sherwood Rd, go North on 90th Ave, turn East on Sweek Drive, and conclude at the Tualatin Police Station on Tualatin Road. The 671st will be the fourth group in the parade, following the Tualatin Police Honor Guard, the Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue Department Pipe and Drum Band. An awards ceremony in the Community Park begins 15 minutes after the end of the parade. It is open to the public. In addition to local officials, dignitaries include U.S. Congressman David Wu, Oregon Dept of Veteran Affairs Deputy Director Paula Brown, and a two-star Army General, Major General Lawrence J. Johnson, Commanding General of the 70th Regional Readiness Command. An estimated 160 unit members and 300 family members will be honored at the picnic.
