Where’s my money?

I hired Richard McGinty to represent me in an accident claim involving workers comp. He resigned as my attorney…stating I owed him $300.72.

I was notified…that Richard McGinty would not release my file to anyone until I payed him the sum of $300.72 so I contacted Richard McGinty by phone and was informed by him as long as I owed him this sum I would be unable to get anyone to represent me.

We changed our phone number.

I then received a letter from Richard McGinty stating that he would be putting a lien on any future settlement of my 3rd party claim.

A settlement was reached by the attorney for the workers comp carrier and I signed the check. All funds minus their portion was then released to Mr. McGinty.

Richard McGinty now refuses to talk to me and has all funds. I feel he is not entitled to ANY portion of the funds, and most certainly not entitled to hold up my injury compensation.
