My name is Christopher J Ostling. I am a chronic pain patient with
degenerative disc disease. I filed for Social Security Disability in August
2005, I was denied and hired Merrill Schneider. I fired

after he showed up for the Social Security hearing in July without my medical
records and not submitting evidence that I am convinced would have made my case
iron clad. (Things like laws that prohibit me from working due to the
medication that I have to take and an MRI that proved the rapid progression of
my disc degeneration along with several statements from friends and associates
describing what I used to be able to do and what I am no longer able to do.)
I hired another attorney and have been trying to get my records from
Mr. Schneider's office so that my current lawyer has a fair chance to review my
case and compare what are in the records against what was
presented
to the ALJ in retaliation for my firing him.
Merrill Schneider is
holding my records for ransom under the guise of an administrative fee
knowing that I have no income and can not afford to pay for records that
I personally went out and got from
several doctors offices, clinics and hospitals and paid for from these
institutions out of my already empty pockets.
I e-mailed Merrill Schneider that I would file a complaint with the bar under Oregon rules of professional conduct, Rule 1.6 (d) if he did not comply and return my records as soon as possible. I also suggested that I would report them as stolen through "Theft by adverse possession" if I had to. He sent me another letter stating that he will not release my records without the administrative fee.
he then wrote and I quote "I don't know who your new attorney is but I can
guess. I have enclosed a document that may prove interesting reading". .....
This document is nothing compared with what is available on

Mr. Merrill Schneider as their poster
boy for his lying
about
his arrest in Canada on drug charges, his use of LSD, his use of street drugs
and heavy use of alcohol during his first five years of practicing law. I
It also includes his letter of apology to the Oregon Court of Appeals for Merrill Schneider's lies (to the Oregon State Bar and an Oregon Appeals Court Judge). His excuse was "I was afraid to tell the truth". I am very happy with the lawyer I have now but I thought you should know what Mr. Schneider is saying about you with out even knowing who I replaced him with. I am sure that you have a good explanation for this document and I would never use it to cause you harm in any way but I am on a crusade to have Merrill Schneider disbarred after his grossly negligent performance during my hearing and his attitude towards me and his absolute lack of communicating his intentions and strategies during my case.
Please let me know what you think or if you can act against him. If you do act against him I would be more than happy to testify for you or make a deposition. I just want to be there to watch him squirm.
