Fae Maxwell, 85, was struck by a vehicle as she was crossing a walkway leading to the parking lot at Safeway located at 15570 SW Pacific Highway. The incident occurred at about noon on Saturday.

Several witnesses offered assistance and called police for help.

Reports indicate the driver of the vehicle, 36 year old Lawrence Watson of Tigard, struck Maxwell as he was turning his vehicle onto the roadway near the entrance of the store. It appeared Watson was moving slowly when the accident occurred and it did not appear he was operating the vehicle in a careless or reckless manner. No citations were issued.

Maxwell was transported from the scene by ambulance to an area hospital with a head injury.
