Lt. jg Red Voltz, the senior LSO brings in a VB SBD Dauntless Dive Bomber onto the Yorktown after a bombing run on shipping in Truk Harbor

Badly shot up by flak in a strike on Palau on 30 Mar 44, Ensign Bob Black of VF 5 is unhurt and climbs out from his F6F Hellcat.  Broken into pieces after ramming a 5 inch gun upon landing.

Funeral and burial at sea taking place on the wooden flight deck of the USS Yorktown.  Chaplain bob Alexander and VF1 bury Lt. M.M. "Mad Dog" Tomme.  After landing, a plane behind Tomme ignored his wave off and crashed on top of Tomme.
